Removal Procedure

  2. Separate Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @Steering Gear - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
  3. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)

  5. Remove Air Cleaner Assembly - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

  18. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  19. Remove both front wheelhouse liners. Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

  21. Remove Power Transfer Unit Case - Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement

  27. Remove Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Nut (2)
  28. Disconnect Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (1) @Transmission
  29. Remove Starter - Starter Replacement (LGX)
  30. Mark the relationship of the flywheel to the torque converter for reassembly.
    31. NOTE:

    Rotate engine clockwise using the crankshaft balancer bolt to gain access to each bolt.

  31. Remove the six torque converter to flywheel bolts (1).
  32. Separate Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  33. Separate Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)
  34. Disconnect and reposition harnesses as required.

  41. Disconnect the electrical connector on the steering gear and disconnect the wiring harness clip from the steering gear housing.(1)

  42. Install EN-48244  Engine Assembly Remove/Install Pallet Supporter under the drivetrain and front suspension cradle.
  43. Lower the vehicle until the drivetrain and front suspension frame is resting lightly on the support table.
  44. Remove Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt (1)
  45. Remove Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt (2) and DISCARD the bolts.
  46. With the aid of an assistant, carefully raise the body from the frame.
  47. Ensure when raising the body the following items are clear from the frame:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Steering knuckles
    • Electrical wiring harnesses
  48. Remove the drivetrain and front suspension frame.

  50. Remove Transmission Mount- Rear - Transmission Rear Mount Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  51. Lift the powertrain assembly off the frame and place on the floor.
  52. Separate the engine from the transmission. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
