Installation Procedure

  1. Install the engine to the transmission. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  2. Place the powertrain assembly on the frame.

  3. Install Transmission Mount- Rear - Transmission Rear Mount Replacement (All Wheel Drive)

  4. Install Transmission Mount- Front - Transmission Front Mount Replacement
  5. Place the powertrain and frame assembly on the engine support table.
  6. With the aid of an assistant, carefully lower the body to the frame.
  7. Ensure the following components are clear from the frame:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Steering knuckles
    • Electrical wiring harnesses

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  8. Install Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt (2) and tighten the NEW bolt.160 N.m (118 lb ft)
  9. Install Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt (1) and tighten 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
  10. Remove the EN-48244  Engine Assembly Remove/Install Pallet Supporter from under the vehicle.

  11. Connect the electrical connector on the steering gear and connect the wiring harness clip on the steering gear housing.(1)

  12. Install Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @Stabilizer Shaft - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement

  13. Install Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod (3) @Steering Knuckle - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement

  15. { If equipped } Connect Front Suspension Automatic Forward Lighting Position Sensor (1) @Front Lower Control Arm

  16. Install Transmission Mount Bolt Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side

  17. Install NEW Engine Mount Fastener - Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side 
  18. Position and connect harnesses as required.
  19. Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly- Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)
  20. Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
    21. NOTE:

    Rotate engine clockwise using the crankshaft balancer bolt to gain access to each bolt.

  21. Install the six torque converter to flywheel bolts (1). Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)Transmission Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)
  22. Install Starter - Starter Replacement (LGX)

  23. Connect Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (1) @Transmission
  24. Install Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Nut (2) - Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (M7U, M7W without V08)Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (M2D without V08)Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (M2D with V08)Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (M7U, M7W with V08)

  25. Connect Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe (1) @Transmission
  26.   27. Install Evaporative Emission Front Pipe (2) @Retainer (1)

  28. Evaporative Emission Front Pipe (2) @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  29. Connect Fuel Feed Pipe (1) - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  30. Install Power Transfer Unit Case - Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement
  31. Install both warm up three-way catalytic converters. Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 1, LGX)Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 2, LGX)
  32. Install both front wheelhouse liners. Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement
  33. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  46. Connect Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @Steering Gear - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
  47. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without KL9)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With KL9)
    48. NOTE:

    Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.

  48. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing
  49. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
  50. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
  51. Perform the throttle learn procedure. Throttle or Idle Learn
  52. Recharge the refrigerant.Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
