Assembly Procedure

    Fig 1: Caliper Piston Boots

  1. Lubricate the outer surface of the caliper pistons with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  2. Install the caliper piston boots (1) to the caliper pistons.

  3. Position the caliper piston boots (1) at the bottom of the caliper pistons.

  4. Lubricate the new caliper piston seal (1) with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    5. NOTE:

    Ensure the seal is not twisted.

  5. Install the lubricated caliper piston seal into the brake caliper bore seal groove.

  6. Install the caliper piston and boot assembly (1) into the caliper.
  7. Seat the caliper piston boot evenly and completely into the groove in the caliper housing.
  8. Carefully push the piston squarely into the brake caliper housing bore.

  9. Lubricate the opposite new caliper piston seal (1) with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    10. NOTE:

    Ensure the seal is not twisted.

  10. Install the lubricated caliper piston seal into the brake caliper bore seal groove.

  11. Install the opposite caliper piston and boot assembly (1) into the caliper.
  12. Seat the caliper piston boot evenly and completely into the groove in the caliper housing.
  13. Carefully push the piston squarely into the brake caliper housing bore.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  14. Install the brake caliper bleeder valve (1) and tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

  15. Install the brake caliper bleeder valve cap (1).
  16. Install the front brake caliper. Front Brake Caliper Replacement
