Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 GMC Acadia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Test fit the rear suspension upper lateral link to the knuckle (2) prior to installation. If the rear suspension upper lateral link does not easily fit, the split sleeve bushing (1) must be repositioned by performing the following steps:
- Install a suitable socket (2) that is slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the split sleeve bushing (1).
- Install a suitable socket (3) that is larger than the outside diameter of the split sleeve bushing on the opposite side of the knuckle (6).
- Install a suitable bolt (4) and nut (5).
- Ensure that the socket (1) is larger than the split sleeve bushing and sits flush against the knuckle (2).
- Rotate the nut (1) forcing the socket (2) and the split sleeve bushing (3) flush with the knuckle (4).
- The split sleeve bushing (1) should now be flush with the knuckle (2) as shown.
- Install Rear Suspension Upper Lateral Link
- Install Rear Suspension Upper Lateral Link Inner Bolt (2).
- Install Rear Suspension Upper Lateral Link Inner Nut (1) and hand tighten
- Install NEW Rear Suspension Upper Lateral Link Outer Bolt (2)
- Install Rear Suspension Upper Lateral Link Outer Nut (1)
Tighten the Bolt
- First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
- Final Pass: (90-105 degrees)
- Rear Suspension Upper Lateral Link Inner Bolt (2) and Tighten
Tighten the Bolt
- First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
- Final Pass: (90-105 degrees)
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
