Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transfer case bracket. Refer to Transfer Case Bracket Replacement (With LGX Engine) Transfer Case Bracket Replacement (With LCV Engine) 
  2. Remove the warm up three way catalytic converter. Refer to Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 1, LGX)Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 2, LGX)Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (LCV)
  3. Disconnect the two piece propeller shaft from the transfer case. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
  4. Remove the rear mount through bolt. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  5. Remove the rear mount bracket. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  6. Disconnect the shift actuator electrical connector.
  7. Support the transfer case with a suitable jack, and secure with suitable straps.

  8. Disconnect the transfer case vent hose (1) from the transfer case (2).
  9. Remove the remaining transfer case-to-transmission bolts (3).
  10. Separate the transfer case (2) from the transmission and remove the transfer case.
