Power Transfer Unit Idler Shaft and Input Disconnect Shaft Installation

1	Input Shaft Seal Protector Procedure Lubricate The ID And OD Areas Of The Seal Protectors With Gear Oil Prior To Use. NOTE: Input shaft seal protector tools are provided within the input shaft seals service kit. The seal protectors are designed to be used during input disconnect shaft installation and to protect the seal ID surfaces from damage. The longer/smaller OD protector is to be used on the case side. The shorter/larger OD protector is to be used on the cover side.
2	Power Transfer Unit Idler Shaft NOTE: Install both the input disconnect and idler gear shafts from the case at the same time. DO NOT remove the input disconnect bearing races from the case half or cover. The case, cover, input disconnect shaft, and input disconnect bearings and races are not available as separate service parts. If component replacement is required, the power transfer unit is to be replaced as an assembly.
3	Power Transfer Unit Input Disconnect Shaft NOTE: Install both the input disconnect and idler gear shafts from the case at the same time. DO NOT remove the input disconnect bearing races from the case half or cover. The case, cover, input disconnect shaft, and input disconnect bearings and races are not available as separate service parts. If component replacement is required, the power transfer unit is to be replaced as an assembly.
