Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW O-Ring (2) @ Wheel Drive Shaft.
  2. Install a NEW Retaining Ring (1) @ Wheel Drive Shaft.

  3. Install Wheel Drive Shaft (1)

  4. Install the wheel drive shaft (1) until it is fully seated into the differential carrier assembly (2).
  5. Install Rear Knuckle. Refer to Knuckle Replacement

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  6. Hand start the NEW Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (1).
    7. NOTE:

    Tighten the NEW wheel drive shaft nut slowly to draw the wheel drive shaft into the hub assembly prior to tightening to specifications.

  7. With the aid of an assistant holding the brake pedal down, tighten the wheel drive shaft nut using a torque wrench.

    Tighten

    1. First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
    2. Second Pass: Loosen 45 degrees
    3. Final Pass: 270 N.m (199 lb ft)
  8. Install the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
