Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 GMC Acadia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- The lower crankcase surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
- Install and align the oil pan to block within 10 minutes of applying the sealer.
- The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 60 minutes of applying the sealer.
- Apply a 4.25 mm bead of sealer (1) on the level part of the flange around the perimeter of the oil pan (2) as shown. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Loosely install Oil Pan Bolts (1, 2, 3)
- Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence to final torque twice using the following procedure:
Tighten
- Tighten bolts in sequence 1-11 to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten bolts in sequence 12-13 to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install Catalytic Converter Brace (2)
Install and tighten Catalytic Converter Brace Bolts (1) (Qty: 2) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
- Install and tighten Air Conditioning Compressor Bolt (1) to 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
- Connect the electrical connector (1).
- Install Retainer (2)
- Install and tighten Transmission Bolt (3) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
- Install and tighten Oil Pan Bolt (1) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
- Install Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Heat Shield. Refer to Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Heat Shield Replacement
- Install Exhaust Front Pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LCV)
- Install Engine Front Cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement
- Install Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (FWD)
- Change the engine oil and filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

NOTE:
When installing the oil pan, carefully align the oil pan to the locating pins then install the pan onto the lower crankcase.
