Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module.
  2. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ground circuit terminal 1 and B+.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate 
    1. Ignition OFF, and all vehicle systems OFF, it may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • If the test lamp illuminates 
  3. Disconnect the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module harness connector X2 from the G10 Cooling Fan Motor.
  4. Connect the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module harness connector X1.
    5. NOTE:

    Perform this test at the motor side of the fan module.

  5. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module terminal X2-2 and B+.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate 

      Replace the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module.

    • If the test lamp illuminates 
  6. Ignition ON.
  7. Connect a test lamp between the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module terminal X2-1 and ground.
  8. Verify the test lamp illuminates when commanding the cooling fan ON with a scan tool.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate 

      Replace the K22 Cooling Fan Control Module.

    • If the test lamp illuminates 
  9. Test or replace the G10 Cooling Fan Motor.
