Conditions for Setting the DTC

The high pressure fuel pump has exceeded its control limits. This condition exists when the high pressure fuel pump actuator command is 0 ° or greater than 240 °. The condition exists for greater than 10 s.

If the fuel rail pressure is less than the target set point before the engine is cranked, the pressure rise diagnostic is used. The pressure rise diagnostic will fail if the fuel pressure has not increased to the target set point within 11 seconds at -40°C (-40°F) ECT or within 3 seconds if the ECT is between 20°C (68°F) and 95°C (203°F) or within 5 seconds if ECT is greater than 112°C (233°F).

If the fuel rail pressure is greater than the target set point before the engine is cranked, the pressure fall diagnostic is used. The pressure fall diagnostic will fail if the fuel rail pressure has dropped below 2 MPa (290 PSI) for 10 engine cycles if the ECT is less than -10°C (14°F) or 0.6 MPa (87 PSI) for 10 engine cycle if the ECT is between -0°C (32°F) and 8°C (46°F) and 0.5 MPa (72 PSI) for 10 cycles if ECT is greater than 8°C (46°F).
