Removal Procedure

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

Remove the propeller shaft assembly (1). Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement

Remove the torque tube mounting bolt (1).

Remove the six torque tube mounting bolts (1) from the rear differential.

NOTE:

The torque tube and RDM are balanced as an assembly. When re-using the original torque tube it should be re-installed in the same position in relation the pinion splines.

Using a paint pen or a suitable marker, mark the relationship of the torque tube splined shaft to the RDM Pinion (1).

NOTE:

DO NOT re-use the old gasket, discard and use NEW only.
If any fluid is found in the torque tube, check the condition of pinion oil seal.

Remove the torque tube assembly (1) and gasket (2) from the rear differential assembly.
