Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Drain the rear differential assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement
- Remove the rear wheel drive shafts. Refer to Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side , Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side
- Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the electronic clutch control module.
- Remove the front torque tube mounting bracket bolt (1).
- Support the torque tube with a jack stand.
- Support the rear differential assembly with a transmission jack.
- Remove the rear differential drive mounting bolts (1).
- With the aide of an assistant, remove the rear differential assembly (1) from the vehicle.
NOTE:
Replacement RDM assemblies come equipped with a new RDCM that is pre-configured with the rear differential clutch calibration values. It is not necessary to prepare the old RDCM for removal or retrieve data from it.
