Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 GMC Acadia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: A23 Door Latch Assembly
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 3 & Ground
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Disconnect Ground Connection
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 3 @ Component harness & Ground Connection
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition On/Vehicle In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Door Ajar Switch = Inactive
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector:
- M35D Window Motor Module - Driver
- S79P Window Switch - Passenger
- S79LR Window Switch - Left Rear
- S79RR Window Switch - Right Rear
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ A23D Door Latch Assembly - Driver & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 5 @ A23P Door Latch Assembly - Passenger & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ A23LR Door Latch Assembly - Left Rear & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 5 @ A23RR Door Latch Assembly - Right Rear & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance, replace the component:
- M35D Window Motor Module - Driver
- S79P Window Switch - Passenger
- S79LR Window Switch - Left Rear
- S79RR Window Switch - Right Rear
- If the specified state
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:

- Signal circuit terminal 5 & Ground circuit terminal 3 @ A23P Door Latch Assembly - Passenger
- Signal circuit terminal 1 & Ground circuit terminal 3 @ A23LR Door Latch Assembly - Left Rear
- Signal circuit terminal 5 & Ground circuit terminal 3 @ A23RR Door Latch Assembly - Right Rear
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Door Ajar Switch = Active
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle Off & Remove Jumper wire(s)
- Disconnect the electrical connector:
- M74D Window Motor - Driver
- S79P Window Switch - Passenger
- S79LR Window Switch - Left Rear
- S79RR Window Switch - Right Rear
- Ignition On/Vehicle In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:

- Signal circuit terminal 5 @ A23P Door Latch Assembly - Passenger & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ A23LR Door Latch Assembly - Left Rear & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 5 @ A23RR Door Latch Assembly - Right Rear & Ground
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V
- Ignition/Vehicle Off
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ A23D Door Latch Assembly - Driver & Signal circuit terminal 6 @ M35D Window Motor Module - Driver
- Signal circuit terminal 5 @ A23P Door Latch Assembly - Passenger & Signal circuit terminal 2 @ S79P Window Switch - Passenger
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ A23LR Door Latch Assembly - Left Rear & Signal circuit terminal 2 @ S79LR Window Switch - Left Rear
- Signal circuit terminal 5 @ A23RR Door Latch Assembly - Right Rear & Signal circuit terminal 2 @ S79RR Window Switch - Right Rear
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the component:
- M35D Window Motor Module - Driver
- S79P Window Switch - Passenger
- S79LR Window Switch - Left Rear
- S79RR Window Switch - Right Rear
- If the specified state
- Test or replace the component: A23 Door Latch Assembly
NOTE:
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
