Circuit Description

The vehicle stability control switch is a momentary type switch which allows the operator to modify the ride characteristics of the vehicle. The engine control module (ECM) supplies 5 V reference voltage, through the 5 V reference voltage circuit, to the vehicle stability control switch. The 5 V reference voltage induces current to flow through a series of resistors in the switch to the switch ground circuit. The ECM monitors the reference voltage through a discrete vehicle stability control switch signal circuit. To activate the system, the switch button is momentarily pressed, which allows the 5 V reference voltage to by-pass one of the resistors. The ECM detects the resulting voltage drop as a request to activate the system. The driver information center displays a menu which allows the operator to select between Touring or Sport mode. The vehicle ride characteristics are then modified by the various control modules in accordance with the mode selected.
