Seat Side Bolster Description and Operation (Without Seat Bolster Memory Control Module)
The driver seat side bolsters system consists of the following components:
- Seat adjuster switch
- Seat memory control module
- Seat lumbar/bolster pump
Ground is supplied at all times to the driver seat adjuster switch through the switch ground circuit and ground connection. The seat memory control module supplies a low current voltage to each signal circuit of the seat adjuster switch. When the lumbar/bolster switch is pressed in the up direction to inflate the seat side bolsters, the seat side bolster inflate signal circuit from the seat memory control module is pulled low through the switch contacts indicating the seat side bolster inflate command. The seat memory control module then applies battery voltage through the bolster inflate control circuit and ground through the bolster deflate control circuit to the seat lumbar/bolster pump. The pump runs to inflate the seat back side bolsters until the switch is released. When the lumbar/bolster switch is pressed in the down direction, the seat side bolster deflate signal circuit from the seat memory control module is pulled low indicating the seat side bolster deflate command. The seat memory control module then applies battery voltage through the bolster deflate control circuit and ground through the bolster inflate control circuit to the seat lumbar/bolster pump. The pump energizes its internal deflate solenoid and air is released from the bladders until the switch is released.
