Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the front differential carrier. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Replacement .
  2. Remove the right front wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side .
  3. Lower the drivetrain and front suspension frame enough to access the carrier side cover bolts. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation (LF4)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation (LGX, LTG) .

  4. Remove the carrier side cover bolts (1).
  5. Using the appropriate tool in the pry tabs, remove the carrier side cover (2).

  6. Remove the O-ring (1) from the carrier side cover (2).
