Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Cadillac ATS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install a NEW O-ring (1) into the groove of the carrier side cover (2).
- Apply a light coat of gear lube to the O-ring area.
- Align the bolt holes and push the carrier side cover (2) onto the differential carrier evenly.
- Start the cover bolts (1) and hand tighten.
- Tighten the side cover retaining bolts (1) to 54 N.m (40 lb ft) in a criss-cross pattern.
- Install the drivetrain and front suspension frame. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation (LF4)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation (LGX, LTG) .
- Install the right front wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side .
- Fill the differential with fluid. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Replacement .
