Removal Procedure

WARNING:

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

WARNING:

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .

Remove the floor panel crossbar fasteners (1) and remove the floor panel crossbar (2).

Remove the catalytic converter fasteners (2) and detach the exhaust muffler (1) from the catalytic converter (4).
Discard the exhaust gasket (3).
Support the front muffler exhaust pipe with mechanics wire.

Remove the exhaust muffler (2) from the exhaust isolators (1).

With the aid of a second technician, remove the exhaust muffler (2) from the exhaust isolator (1).

Lower the exhaust muffler (1) to the floor.
