Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Cadillac ATS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

WARNING:

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury.

  1. Remove Intake Manifold Cover. Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LGX)
  2. Disconnect Heated Oxygen Sensor. Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1 (LGX)

  3. Remove Catalytic Converter Nut (1) @Cylinder Head
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V)
  5. Disconnect Heated Oxygen Sensor.Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2 (LGX)

  6. Remove Catalytic Converter Nut (1).
  7. Separate Exhaust Muffler (2) @Catalytic Converter
  8. DISCARD the gasket.(2)
  9. If equipped, remove the catalytic converter brace bracket. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (LGX)

  10. Remove Catalytic Converter (3)
  11. DISCARD the gasket.(2)
  12. Transfer components as necessary.
