Removal Procedure

NOTE:

When performing the following procedure, use only hand tools to remove and install the drain and fill plugs.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
Reposition the underbody insulation as necessary to gain access to the fill plug.
Remove the fill plug (1).
Remove the drain plug (2).
NOTE:
Ensure that an approved drain pan is used when draining the transfer case.
Allow the transfer case to drain completely.
