Installation Procedure

  1. Install the NEW vehicle wiring harness bracket located on the top of the transfer case assembly.
  2. Position the transfer case to the transmission.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the transfer case fasteners (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  4. Install the transfer case fasteners (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  5. Install the transmission support assembly. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic RWD)Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic AWD)Transmission Support Replacement (Manual) .
  6. Remove the transmission jack from the transfer case.
  7. Remove the jack from under the transmission.
  8. Connect the electrical connectors to the transfer case.
  9. Connect the shift cable to the transmission control lever. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .
  10. Install the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (LGX, LTG) .
  11. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LTG, LGX, LCV)Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LF4) .
  12. Refill the transfer case with fluid, if necessary. Refer to Transfer Case Fluid Replacement .
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Reprogram the transfer case shift control module. Refer to Control Module References .
