Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
  2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LTG, LGX, LCV)Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LF4) .

    NOTE:

    Use M10 x 1.5 mm nuts and bolts to retain the tool to the flange.

  3. Install the J-45012  Holding Fixture to the rear output shaft flange (4).
  4. Remove and discard the rear output shaft flange nut (1).
  5. Remove the J-45012  Holding Fixture from the rear output shaft flange (4).
  6. Remove and discard the rear output shaft flange washer (2).
  7. Remove and discard the rear output shaft flange O-ring seal (3).
  8. Install the J-45019  Flange and Pinion Cage Remover to the rear output shaft flange (4).
    9. CAUTION:

    Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution .

  9. Remove the rear output shaft seal dirt deflector (5).
  10. Remove and discard the rear output shaft seal (6).
