Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW output shaft seal (4) using J-47847  Output Seal Installer.
  2. Install the front output shaft seal dirt deflector (3).
  3. Install a NEW front output shaft retaining ring (2) to the output shaft (1).
  4. Using a rubber type mallet to install the output shaft (1) and to seat the retaining ring into the ID groove of the front output gear.
  5. Install the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (LGX, LTG) .
  6. Check the fluid level. Add fluid, if necessary. Refer to Transfer Case Fluid Replacement .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
