Input Shaft and Front Output Shaft Cleaning and Inspection

Preliminary Procedures Clean the shafts in solvent and air dry, including the input shaft oil galleries. Inspect all components or sub-components and perform any repair procedure necessary to fix the damage.
1	Inspect internal and external threads for damage.
2	Inspect the splines for damage or excessive wear. Witness marks are normal.
3	Input Shaft Assembly NOTE: Inspect the seal surfaces for scoring, rust or other damage.
4	Inspect the bearing journals for scoring, pitting, or excessive wear. NOTE: Do not attempt to smooth roughness in the bearing journals.
5	Front Output Shaft Sealing Surface NOTE: Inspect the seal surfaces for scoring, rust or other damage.
6	Inspect the splines for damage or excessive wear. Witness marks are normal.
7	Front output flange snap ring groove for damage.
