Vent and Adapter Studs Installation

1	Vent NOTE: If the vent has been removed, install a NEW vent during assembly.
2	Transfer Case Stud CAUTION: Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution . CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Procedure Apply threadlock to the stud threads before installation. Apply threadlock only to the threads on the end of the stud that will be installed into the transfer case front half. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers Install DT-49308 installer onto the stud. Rotate the bolt until it contacts the top of the stud. Install a deep socket over both the head of the bolt and the long nut and tighten the stud to specification. Loosen the long nut and remove the tool from the stud. Inspect the studs for the proper installation height. A properly installed stud should protrude from the face of the case 30.3-31.1 mm (1.19-1.23 in). Tighten 11 N.m (97 lb in) Special Tools DT-49308 Stud Remover and Installer Equivalent regional tools: Special Tools .

Procedure

Apply threadlock to the stud threads before installation. Apply threadlock only to the threads on the end of the stud that will be installed into the transfer case front half. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Install DT-49308 installer onto the stud.
Rotate the bolt until it contacts the top of the stud.
Install a deep socket over both the head of the bolt and the long nut and tighten the stud to specification.
Loosen the long nut and remove the tool from the stud.
Inspect the studs for the proper installation height. A properly installed stud should protrude from the face of the case 30.3-31.1 mm (1.19-1.23 in).
