The transfer case fluid temperature sensor is a thermistor. The transfer case control module supplies a 5-volt reference circuit and a low reference circuit to the sensor. When the transfer case fluid is cold, the sensor resistance is high and the transfer case control module senses a low signal voltage on the low reference circuit. As the transfer case fluid warms, the sensor resistance lowers and the transfer case control module senses higher voltage on the low reference circuit. The transfer case control module uses this information to modify all-wheel drive duty cycle.
