Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V)
- Drain the rear differential carrier assembly. Refer to Differential Oil Replacement (195mm Axle)
- Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LTG, LGX, LCV)
- Separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (LTG, LGX) , Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (LGX, LTG)
- Support the differential carrier assembly with a suitable hydraulic jack stand (1).
- Remove the differential carrier rear bolt and washer (2) and discard.
- Remove the 2 differential carrier front bolts (1).
- Using the hydraulic jack stand, lower and remove the differential carrier assembly (1).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to completely remove the wheel drive axles from the vehicle. Only separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly and not from the wheel bearing and hub assembly.
NOTE:
Do NOT reuse differential carrier rear bolt. DISCARD and replace with NEW only.
