Removal Procedure

Fig 1: Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (LF4)

Remove the catalytic converter brace bracket. Refer to Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (LF4)
Disconnect the shift control assembly from the transmission. Refer to Shift Control Assembly Replacement (MG9)

Remove the eight lower transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1 through 8).
Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
- Gear position sensor Gear Position Sensor Replacement
- Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement (MG9)
- Reverse lockout solenoid Reverse Lockout Solenoid Replacement
- Transmission fluid temperature sensor Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Replacement

Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Fitting Retainer (1) @ Transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection

NOTE:

Cover or plug all open transmission fluid cooler pipe connection points to help avoid any accidental contamination.

Remove Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe (Front Jumper Left) (2) @ Transmission

Remove Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Clip (1) @ Transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection

NOTE:

Cover or plug all open transmission fluid cooler pipe connection points to help avoid any accidental contamination.

Remove Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission

Remove the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe (1) retaining clip from the clutch slave cylinder.
Disconnect the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe (2) from the clutch slave cylinder. Plug the lower hose end.
Reposition the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement (LF4)
Remove the engine and transmission as an assembly. Refer to Engine Replacement (LF4 (Manual Transmission))

Remove the eight upper transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1 through 4).
Separate the transmission from the engine.
Flush and flow test the transmission oil cooler and lines. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing (Tremec 6-Speed)
