Extension Housing Removal

  1. Place the transmission on a workbench.
  2. Rotate the transmission into a horizontal position.
  3. Remove the transmission oil drain plug and drain the transmission fluid.
  4. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL (N).

  5. Remove the manual transmission control shaft boot (1) and the manual transmission control lever retainer (2).
  6. Remove the manual transmission control lever pin (4) and the manual transmission shift lever shaft joint (3).
  7. Remove the manual transmission control lever seal (5).

  8. Install the J 45012  holding fixture with the mounting bolts to the propeller shaft transmission yoke (3).
  9. Using a socket wrench, remove the propeller shaft transmission yoke nut (1).
  10. Remove the propeller shaft transmission yoke flange washer (2).

  11. Using DT 45019  flange and pinion cage remover, remove the propeller shaft transmission yoke (1).

  12. Remove the shift interlock detent assembly (1).

  13. Remove the manual shift detent bolt (1), detent spring (2) and the detent (3).

  14. Remove the propeller shaft O-ring (1).
  15. Remove the extension housing bolts (3) and stud (4), then the extension housing assembly (2).
