Circuit/System Verification

WARNING:

Refer to Road Test Warning .

Ignition ON.
Verify DTC P0502 or P0503 is not set.
- If DTC P0502 or P0503 is set
  Refer to DTC P0502 or P0503 (MG9) DTC P0502 or P0503 (M3L) .
- If DTC P0502 or P0503 is not set
Engine running, clutch pedal applied, place the gear shift lever in Gear 1.
Release the clutch pedal.
Verify the vehicle moves without any mechanical clutch symptoms.
- If mechanical clutch symptoms exist
  Refer to Symptoms - Clutch .
- If no mechanical clutch symptoms exist
Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Verify the scan tool Gear Shift Position Sensor parameter displays the following duty cycle as the gear shift lever is moved through each gear position:
- 10-31% duty cycle for Gear 1 and Gear 2
- 28-53% duty cycle for Gear 3, Neutral 3-4 Gate, and Gear 4
- 44-73% duty cycle for Gear 5 and Gear 6
- 60-90% duty cycle for Reverse Gear
- If the Gear Shift Position Sensor parameter is not within the specified range
  Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- If the Gear Shift Position Sensor parameter is within the specified range
Verify the scan tool Gate Select Position Sensor parameter displays the following duty cycle as the gear shift lever is moved to each gear position:
- 73-87% duty cycle for Gear 1, Gear 3, Gear 5, and Reverse Gear
- 48-60% duty cycle for Neutral 3-4 Gate
- 25-34% duty cycle for Gear 2, Gear 4, and Gear 6
- If the Gate Select Position Sensor parameter is not within the specified range
  Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- If the Gate Select Position Sensor parameter is within the specified range
Operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC to verify the DTC does not set. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
- If the DTC sets
  Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- If the DTC does not set
All OK.
