Preliminary Procedure Remove the left and right rear compartment side trim panels. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Sedan with AM9)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Sedan except AM9)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Coupe) , and Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Sedan with AM9)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Sedan except AM9)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Coupe) . Remove the rear compartment rear window lower trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Rear Window Lower Trim Replacement (Sedan)Rear Compartment Rear Window Lower Trim Replacement (Coupe) .
1	Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod - Right Side Procedure Using a suitable pair of pliers, rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released. Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers. Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.
2	Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod - Left Side Procedure Using a suitable pair of pliers, rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released. Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers. Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.

Remove the rear compartment rear window lower trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Rear Window Lower Trim Replacement (Sedan)Rear Compartment Rear Window Lower Trim Replacement (Coupe) .

Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod - Right Side

Procedure

Using a suitable pair of pliers, rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released.
Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers.
Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.

Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod - Left Side

Procedure

Using a suitable pair of pliers, rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released.
Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers.
Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.
