Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
- If equipped with AWD, remove the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (LGX, LTG) .
- Remove the engine coolant heater cord connector (1) from the engine coolant heater.
- Remove the starter solenoid fastener (2) and remove the starter solenoid cable (3).
- Remove the right upper tie bar extension frame rail fastener (2) and remove the starter solenoid ground cable (1).
- Detach the heater cord retainer (3).
- Remove the following from the pre-fuse block:
- Battery Jumper Post Cover (1).
- Pre-Fuse Block Cover (2).
- Battery Positive Barrel Retainer (3).
- Battery Positive Cable (4).
- Starter Solenoid Cable (5).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS) .
- Remove the starter solenoid cable ground fastener (1) and the starter solenoid cable (2), from the engine block.
- Detach the starter solenoid cable retainers (1) from the engine harness and remove the starter solenoid cable (2) from the engine compartment.
NOTE:
The coolant heater cord is attached to the starter solenoid cable.
