Crankshaft Balancer Installation (LGX)

CAUTION: This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component. Preliminary Procedures Install the EN-46106 Flywheel Holding Tool through the starter mounting hole. NOTE: The top starter hole will require a longer bolt and nut to secure the tool. Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore. Use the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer to install the crankshaft balancer. Thread the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer in the crankshaft. Ensure you engage at least 10 threads of the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer before pressing the crankshaft balancer in place. Push the crankshaft balancer into position by tightening the nut on the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft end. Remove the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer. Install the NEW crankshaft balancer bolt. Remove the EN-46106 Flywheel Holding Tool through the starter mounting hole. Special Tools EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer EN-46106 Flywheel Holding Tool EN-45059 Angle Meter Equivalent regional tools: Special Tools (LGX) .
1	Crankshaft Balancer NOTE: Do not lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.
2	Crankshaft Balancer Bolt CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . NOTE: Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt. Tighten First Pass : 80 N.m (59 lb ft) Final Pass: 125 degrees

Preliminary Procedures

Install the EN-46106 Flywheel Holding Tool through the starter mounting hole.
NOTE:
The top starter hole will require a longer bolt and nut to secure the tool.
Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.
Use the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer to install the crankshaft balancer.
Thread the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer in the crankshaft. Ensure you engage at least 10 threads of the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer before pressing the crankshaft balancer in place.
Push the crankshaft balancer into position by tightening the nut on the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft end.
Remove the EN-41478-A Crankshaft Balancer Installer.
Install the NEW crankshaft balancer bolt.
Remove the EN-46106 Flywheel Holding Tool through the starter mounting hole.

Crankshaft Balancer

NOTE:

Do not lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.

Crankshaft Balancer Bolt

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

NOTE:

Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt.

Tighten
First Pass : 80 N.m (59 lb ft)
Final Pass: 125 degrees
