Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Base)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (V-Series)
- Drain the rear differential carrier assembly. Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement (226mm eLSD)
- Disconnect the differential oil cooler outlet hose. Differential Oil Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement (226mm eLSD)
- Disconnect the differential oil pump inlet hose. Differential Oil Pump Inlet Hose Replacement (226mm eLSD)
- Remove the propeller shaft. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LF4)
- Separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (LCV, LF4)Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (LF4, LCV)
- Support the differential carrier assembly with a suitable hydraulic jack stand (1).
- Remove the differential carrier rear bolt and washer (2).
- Remove the 2 differential carrier front bolts (1).
- Using the hydraulic jack stand, lower and remove the differential carrier assembly (1).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to completely remove the wheel drive axles from the vehicle. Only separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly and not from the wheel bearing and hub assembly.
