Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Cadillac ATS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If 5 Ω or greater
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end.
- If greater than 2 Ω, repair the Open/High resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, repair the ground connection.
- If less than 5 Ω
- Ignition ON.
- Test for 11-13 V between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If not between 11-13 V
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
- If between 11-13 V
- Ignition OFF, place the transmission shift lever in the M or manual mode position.
- Test for the following resistance values between terminal 3 and terminal 2 on the S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch, for the conditions listed below:
- 500-700 Ω - Plus (+) button pressed
- 1800-2200 Ω - Minus (-) button pressed
- 5900-6300 Ω - Neither button pressed
- If resistance values are not correct
Replace the S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch.
- If resistance values are correct
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
