Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the appropriate multi-way harness connector X160 or X161, at the rear of the intake manifold, ignition ON. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Verify the scan tool Cylinder 1-6 Injector Control Circuit Status parameters display Open.
- If Open is not displayed
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the appropriate Q17 Fuel Injector high voltage supply circuit and high voltage control circuit.
- If less than infinite, repair the short between the circuits.
- If infinite resistance, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
NOTE:Test on the Engine Control Module side of the multi-way harness connector.
- If Open is displayed
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate Q17 Fuel Injector.
- Test for infinite resistance between the appropriate Q17 Fuel Injector high voltage supply circuit and high voltage control circuit.
- If less than infinite resistance
Repair the short between the circuits.
- If infinite resistance
- If less than infinite resistance
- Test or replace the appropriate Q17 Fuel Injector.
NOTE:
Testing for the following steps is performed on the fuel injector side of the multi-way harness connector. It may be necessary to remove the intake manifold to isolate the condition.
