Circuit/System Description

The driver information center switch is a multiplexed switch. Battery power is provided to the driver information center switch via the instrument cluster. The driver information center switch signal circuit is pulled up to battery voltage in the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster also provides the driver information center switch with a low reference. The Set, Customization, and Vehicle Information Switches are momentary contact switches that connect to a series of resistors in a resistor ladder format. The instrument cluster monitors the driver information center switch signal circuit to determine the switch inputs. Each switch state - Set, Customization, and Vehicle Information- corresponds to a certain resistance value. Logic inside the driver information center switch provides the ground for resistor ladder and emulates a resistance value back to the instrument cluster via the switch signal circuit. The instrument cluster determines which button was pressed based on the signal from the driver information center switch.

The instrument cluster also monitors the driver information center MENU switch signal circuit to determine the driver information center switch Trip/Fuel Switch status. The Trip/Fuel Switch signal circuit is pulled up to battery voltage in the instrument cluster. When the Trip/Fuel Switch is pushed, the Trip/Fuel Switch signal circuit is pulled low to ground.
