Transmission Input Shaft Seal Replacement

Tools Required

J 45866 Input Shaft Seal Installer

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the transmission input shaft bearing retainer. Refer to Input Shaft Bearing Retainer Replacement Service and Repair.




2. Using a hammer and a punch, remove the input shaft seal from the input shaft bearing retainer.

Installation Procedure




1. Using the J 45866 and a hammer, install the input shaft seal into the input shaft bearing retainer.

* The spring side of the seal goes toward the tool
* Ensure the seal is installed square
* The tool will install the seal to the correct depth

2. Install the transmission input shaft bearing retainer. Refer to Input Shaft Bearing Retainer Replacement Service and Repair.
