Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (RPOs LC9/LMG/LY5/L76/L92) or Intake Manifold Replacement (RPOs LY2/LY6) .
  2. Fig 1: View Of Transmission Oil Level Indicator

  3. Unlock the transmission oil level indicator.
  4. Remove the transmission oil level indicator.
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Support the transmission using a suitable jack.
  7. Remove the transmission crossmember. Refer to Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (C1500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (C2500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (K1500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (K2500 series) .

  9. Loosen the left exhaust pipe nuts.

  11. Loosen the right exhaust pipe nuts.

  13. Remove the transmission heat shield.
  14. Lower the transmission slightly.

  16. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Replacement .
  17. Plug the transmission oil cooler line fittings.

  19. Remove the indicator tube nut.

  21. Remove the indicator tube bolt, if equipped with RPO HP2.

  23. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
  24. Remove the seal from the transmission, if necessary.

  26. Remove the oil level indicator tube, if equipped with RPO HP2.
  27. Remove the seal from the transmission, if necessary.
