Transmission Intermediate Case Disassemble

Tools Required

    IMPORTANT: Only remove the bearing races if replacing the bearing race or if the mating bearings are being replaced. The bearing race and the mating bearings must be replaced together. Do not use the bearing race again after removal.
  1. Inspect the bearings for damage or wear. Refer to Bearings and Spacers Cleaning and Inspection .
  2. Using a brass drift and hammer, remove the mainshaft intermediate bearing race from the intermediate case.

  3. Using a brass drift and hammer, remove the countershaft intermediate bearing race from the intermediate case
  4. IMPORTANT: Only remove the bearings if replacing the bearing. Do not use the bearings again after removal.
  5. Inspect the bearings for damage or wear. Refer to Bearings and Spacers Cleaning and Inspection .
  6. Remove the shift rail bearing from the intermediate case using the J 44736  (1) and the J 44737  (2). Expand the J 44737  (2) to fit securely in the bearing.
