Transmission Front Case Disassemble

Tools Required
- J 44707 T Bar Push Puller
- J 44728 Bearing Race Remover. See Special Tools .
- J 44733 Bearing Race Remover. See Special Tools .
- J 44736 Bridge and Forcing Screw. See Special Tools .
- J 44737 Shift Rail Bearing Remover
- Inspect the bearings for damage or wear. Refer to Bearings and Spacers Cleaning and Inspection .
- Remove the shift rail bearing using the J 44707
(1) and the J 44737
(2).
- Expand the J 44737 (2) to fit securely in the bearing.
- Install the J 44707 (1) to the J 44737 (2).
- Rest the bar of the J 44707 (1) on the case. Do not let the bar of the J 44707 damage the case.
- Remove the shift rail bearing.
- Remove the countershaft front bearing race using the J 44736
(1) and the J 44728
(2). See Special Tools .
- Install the J 44728 (2) in order for the fingers to fit in the notches in the case. See Special Tools .
- Expand the J 44728 (2) to fit securely in the bearing race. See Special Tools .
- Align the legs of the J 44736 to rest on the webbing of the case. See Special Tools .
- Remove the countershaft front bearing race.
- Remove the countershaft bearing shims and discard.
- Remove the mainshaft front bearing race using the J 44736
(1) and the J 44733
(2). See Special Tools .
- With the J 44736 (1) attached to the J 44733 (2), hit the forcing screw in order to bend the input gear oil deflector. See Special Tools . This allows the J 44733 (2) to fit under the bearing race. See Special Tools .
- Expand the J 44733 (2) to fit securely under the bearing race. See Special Tools .
- Align the legs of the J 44736 to rest on the webbing of the case. See Special Tools .
- Remove the input shaft bearing race.
- Remove the input gear oil deflector and discard.
- Remove the input shaft bearing shims and discard.
- Remove the oil trough.
- Remove the input shaft seal and discard.
- Remove the transmission vent if necessary.
- Remove the power take-off (PTO) cover bolts.
- Remove the PTO cover.
- Remove and discard the PTO cover gasket.
NOTE:

IMPORTANT:
Only remove the bearings if replacing the bearings. Do not use the bearings again after removal.
