Component Testing

- Using the output controls on the scan tool command the EGR position to 30 percent.
- If the actual EGR position does not move replace the EGR valve.
- Remove the EGR valve. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Replacement
and inspect that the EGR is not stuck, that there are no leaks or restrictions in the EGR valve and EGR passages, and that there is no debris or damage that can cause the EGR valve to stick partially open or partially closed. Clean the EGR valve if necessary.
- If the EGR valve is sticking, has a weak spring, or is damaged and cannot be cleaned replace the EGR valve. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Replacement .
