Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the following NEW components to the fuel meter body:

    • Lower fuel seals (4)
    • Spacer rings (3)
    • Upper fuel seals (2)
    • Fuel seal retainers (1)
  2. CAUTION: Always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends before connecting the fuel pipe fittings in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.
  3. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the fuel pipe end.
  4. Install the fuel pipes (700) to the fuel meter body.

  5. Install the fuel pipe bracket (753).
  6. Install the fuel pipe bracket nuts (510).
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the fuel pipe bolt (509).

    Tighten: 

    1. Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
    2. Tighten the nuts to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

  8. Remove the cap from the fuel pipe.
  9. Connect the chassis fuel feed pipe to the engine compartment fuel pipe (1). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) .

  10. Test the system for leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  11. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
