Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install control lever insulator, if removed.

  2. Install control lever boot to control lever, if removed.
  3. Install control lever.

  4. If alignment of control lever is necessary, or if shift lever assembly was replaced perform following:
    1. The nut must be seated at bottom of thread runout on shift lever.
    2. Seat control lever against shift lever assembly adjustment nut.
    3. Back control lever off nut in order to align index mark on control lever perpendicular to edge of control lever boot retainer.
    4. Ensure that index mark is located on passenger side and that shift pattern is aligned parallel to vehicle centerline or rotated no more than 6 degrees clockwise.
    5. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
    6. Hold control lever and tighten shift lever assembly nut against control lever.

      Tighten:  Tighten nut to 37 N.m (27 lb in).

  5. Seat control lever boot to floor.
  6. Install control lever boot screws, if removed.

    Tighten:  Tighten screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).

  7. Install control lever boot retainer, if removed.
  8. Install control lever boot retainer plastic retainers, if removed.
