Test Description

The numbers below refer to step numbers on diagnostic table.
- 2: This step inspects for vibration causing a noise. If vehicle is equipped with an aftermarket box, or is carrying a certain load, driveline axle may not be correct, and could cause a vibration. vibration may be resonating into transmission, causing a noise.
- 6: This step inspects for correct transmission fluid level. If transmission fluid level is excessively low, damage may have occurred to transmission components.
- 8: This step inspects for correct type of transmission fluid. transmission uses a special fluid. If incorrect fluid was used, there may have been an overheating problem. Overheating may cause damage to transmission components.
- 10: This step inspects for noise coming into driver compartment. Improper sealing of shift tower may be allowing normal transmission noise to be heard by driver.
- 16: This step tests to determine if clutch components are making noise. Depress clutch pedal slowly and listen for change in noise. If noise changes while pressing pedal, it may be a faulty clutch component. If noise does not change until clutch is completely disengaged, transmission component is faulty.
