Tools Required
- J 33163 Valve Tray Set. See Special Tools .
- J 43773 Valve Spring Compressor. See Special Tools .
- Position the control valve on the work table so that the main valve body is facing up.
- Remove two bolts (3) retaining the reverse signal pipe.
- Bolt (2) is slightly longer than the other bolts (1).
- The transmission fluid pressure (TFP) switch is retained by five bolts (1) and by bolt (2).
- Remove five bolts (1), and one bolt (2), retaining the TFP switch to the main valve body.
- Remove the reverse signal pipe (2) from the main valve body (3).
- Remove the TFP switch (1) from the main valve body (3).
- Remove the 2 bolts (1) retaining the modulated main pressure solenoid valve body (2).
- Remove the modulated main pressure solenoid valve body assembly (2) and six speed tube.
- Remove the six speed tube from the modulated main pressure solenoid valve body.
- Remove the modulated main pressure solenoid retainer (5) from the bottom of the valve body (2).
- Remove the modulated main pressure (MAIN MOD) solenoid (6).
- Remove the 2 O-rings (3 and 4) from the MAIN MOD solenoid (6).
- Remove the bolt (1) that retains the TCC PCS retaining bracket (2) to main valve body.
- Remove the TCC PCS retaining bracket (2).
- Remove the TCC PCS (7), valve (4), and spring (3).
- Remove the O-rings (5 and 6) from the TCC PCS (7).
- Remove the shift solenoid 1 (SS1) retainer (1).
- Remove the SS1.
- Remove the O-rings (2 and 3) from SS1 (4).
- Remove shift solenoid 3 (SS3) retainer (1).
- Remove SS3 (4).
- Remove the O-rings (2 and 3) from the SS3 (4).
- Remove the 3 bolts (1) that retain the PCS retaining bracket (2) to the main valve body (3).
- Remove the PCS retaining bracket (1), 2 accumulator springs (2), and 2 accumulator plugs (3).
- Remove the pressure control solenoid 1 (PCS1) (15), valve (13), spring (12), valve (11), and spring (10).
- Remove the pressure control solenoid 2 (PCS2) (9), valve (7), valve (6), and spring (5).
- Remove the O-ring (14) from PCS1 (15).
- Remove the O-ring (8) from PCS2 (9).
- Position the control valve module on the work table so that shift valve body (1) is facing up.
- Remove the SS1 retainer (2).
- Remove the SS1 (5).
- Remove the O-rings (3 and 4) from the SS1 (5).
- Remove eleven bolts (1) retaining the shift valve body and the main valve body together.
- Position the control valve module on the work table so that the main valve body is facing up. Reinstall four bolts (1) so that the bolts are partially threaded into the shift valve body and protrude from the main valve body.
- Position the control valve module on edge so that the top and bottom are vertical.
- Gently tap the bolts until the module separates.
- Position the control valve assembly on the work table so that shift valve body (1) is facing up.
- Separate shift valve body assembly (1), separator plate (2), and main valve body assembly (4).
NOTE:
Refer to Transmission Control Valve Body Overhaul Notice
.
IMPORTANT:
IMPORTANT:
The torque converter clutch (TCC) pressure control solenoid (PCS) retaining bracket (2) must not be modified. Note that the angle between the 2 bracket surfaces is less than 90 degrees. Replace the bracket if the angle is 90 degrees or more.
