Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the flywheel is installed correctly. "Engine Side" is stamped on the flywheel to aid with installation.

  1. If equipped with a manual transmission, Install the engine flywheel.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. If equipped with a automatic transmission, Install the engine flywheel.
  4. Install the engine flywheel bolts.

    Tighten: 

    1. Tighten the bolts a first pass to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the bolts a second pass to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).
    3. Tighten the bolts a final pass to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).

  5. If equipped with a manual transmission, install the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.
  6. If equipped with a automatic transmission, install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L80-E, or Transmission Replacement (With 6.6L Engine) or Transmission Replacement (With 8.1L (L18) Engine) in Automatic Transmission - Allison.
