Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 GMC Sierra, 2008 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2008 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the ISRVM.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that OC is displayed on the ISRVM display.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the ISRVM.
  4. Ignition ON, install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify that SC is displayed on the ISRVM display.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the ISRVM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the ambient air temperature sensor.
