J 43769  Spanner Nut Wrench - 4WD. See Special Tools .

  1. The fullest clockwise position of the manual shift shaft is Park (P), which engages the park pawl.
  2. Using a wrench on the manual shift shaft flats (1), rotate the shaft to the fullest clockwise position.

  4. Ensure the park pawl is engaged.
  5. Install the J 43769  (1) onto the output shaft retaining nut, 4WD (2). See Special Tools .
  6. Using the J 43769  (1), install a new output shaft retaining nut, 4WD (2) onto the output shaft (3). See Special Tools .

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 61 N.m (45 lb ft).

    IMPORTANT: The Neutral (N) position of the manual shift shaft is 2 detent positions counterclockwise from the fullest clockwise position.
  8. Using a wrench on the manual shift shaft flats (1), rotate the shaft to the fullest clockwise position.
  9. Rotate the manual shift shaft counterclockwise 2 detent positions.
  10. Make sure the park pawl is disengaged.
