Installation Procedure

NOTE: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. If installing the old sensor(s), coat the threads with sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Install the appropriate ECT sensor (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the appropriate ECT sensor.
  6. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (4.3L) or Generator Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L) or Generator Replacement (6.6L) .
  7. Fill the cooling system, as necessary. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) .
